Independence Day in Blanding, UT is not only a one day event, it is a four day family party! We start the festivities out with the most dramatic and hysterical of melodramas. A car show, chili cook off, and Navajo taco dinner follow the next day. Then we round out the evening with an all night softball tournament.
The sun rises with a 5k run and 1 mile fun run, followed by breakfast with the mayor, and then the parade starts down Main Street, led by the Jason Workman Memorial Ride and airplane fly overs.
After everyone has gathered all the candy they can carry, been soaked to the boned, and taken 1000 photos, the party moves to Centennial Park.
In 2018 the firework show:

The 4th of July Parade in Blanding, UT is one of the highlights for kids of all ages. Several planes fly over before the start to the delight of just about everyone.
Booths, food, kid games, water games, volleyball games, swimming competitions, more food, tennis games, boating, a quilt show, bowling, and the occasional nap take over the rest of the afternoon for most in attendance.
As the sun sinks lower, the games wind down and the music starts. Sitting on the cool grass, dancing their hearts out, or just enjoying dinner at the free concert in the park comes next. Some head the melodrama for another chance to throw popcorn at a villain.
